My Midsummer’s Night Dream Wedding!

My Dreams, Shakespeare’s Dreams, and a Recession Proof Wedding

Candice and John McAndrews
August 4, 2007

John and I met when I was 16! We met in high school when my friend was dating his brother. When he proposed, we had been dating for 8 years!

I took several steps to make my wedding recession proof. The two most important steps I took were:
1. Choosing a facility that was a good value.
2. Making my own centerpieces for the tables.

Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” was the theme for my wedding. Vecoma at the Yellow River provided the perfect enchanted forest setting!

Shakespeare’s fairies adorned each table and a living fairy was my flower girl!

Taylor “the real life fairy flower girl”!!

There is a Korean tradition that if you have 1001 cranes at your wedding you will have a long, fertile, and happy marriage. I worked for eight months making 1001 origami cranes. The last few months I could make 21 cranes per day! There are 23 separate folds in each bird!

I made a special blue bird for my bouquet!

I loved my table decorations! Each table had a vase with flowers and a goldfish. You can see the cranes hanging down in the background!

For the ceremony, memorials were placed in the appropriate chairs…an orchid for John’s father, and for his mother, bamboo.

Our awesome cake!

To end the celebration, we released balloons. With a burst of joy, the balloons and cranes ascended to the sky!

I had a fabulous wedding for a great price! Vecoma at the Yellow River provided the facility, food, linens, and photography. My DJ was a friend and the cake, dress, and flowers were very reasonable.
